Surface damage on doors
Different materials react differently
Solid timber may allow sanding or local repair; veneer has limited surface thickness; metal can dent or lose coating; composite skins can crack or mark in ways that are difficult to blend invisibly.
Location matters
Damage around a lock, hinge, glazed cut-out or door edge can affect more than appearance. A shallow mark in the centre of a leaf is a different problem from a split beside a latch or damaged hinge fixing.
