Look at the complete perimeter
The threshold is only one part of the weathering line. Side and head seals, frame alignment, door compression and drainage details can all affect performance.
Damage can be local
A torn seal or loose threshold may be replaceable without changing the entire door, provided the leaf and frame remain suitable.
When the opening needs more work
Rot, corrosion, movement, poor levels or repeated water entry can mean the underlying frame or opening needs attention as well as the visible seal.
